The Artist Spirit

Betty Slade, Artist

The Master Artist speaks. He opened my human heart and His paintbrush danced across the recesses of my dark soul.

The canvas surrendered, love awakened and a new creation began. And the Master Artist dipped His brush into the paint and gently wrote His name upon my soul. "I have set you as a seal upon My heart, as a seal upon My arm." Song of Solomon 8:6 "Now you must set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon arm, for love is as strong as death."

Contemplation

Song of  Solomon 5:2  "I sleep, but my heart is awake; It the voice of my beloved! He knocks, saying, 'Open to me, my sister, my love, My dove, my perfect one; for mt head is covered with dew, my locks with the drops of the night."

Contemplation
"I have taken off my robe; How can I put in on again? I have washed my feet, How can I defile them?" My heart stood silent, as I heard the Master  Artist cry out to me, He said, "Open to me, my sister, my love." I couldn't, I didn't trust Him or me. My religious and self-righteousness became a closed door to my heart. I heard His passion, but my own thoughts baecame my standard..

The Mater Artist spoke, "Turn to me, I will take away the veil from your heart. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Trust the spirit of  your Master Creator, I will set you free, but you must turn to Me. In the confines of your borders, you  continue to live in two dimensions. As I paint you, with shadows, and cool blues and warm passionate reds, you will become three dimensional. Trust Me..

Desbah (Woman of War)

Song of Solomon 4:8 Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon, Look from the top of Amana, from the top of Senir and Hermon, from the lions' dens, from the mountains of the leopards.

I must take you to the mountain top, it is where spiritual warfare is conducted between good and evil. You will learn to walk among lions and leopards. They will not harm you, because you are in Me. You are my poetry upon white canvas. You are protected in my love, in my design for your life. But you must experience the reality of Life itself in order to know my Love..

I do not know how to walk among lions and leopards, I want to stay in a safe place, I do not want risk.

You will not know my love and protection without it. Trust me to protect you through the battles of war. Your name, Desbah,  means Woman of War, You were given that name at birth, you are designed to walk upon  high mountains of your people. You will learn victory.

Wakened by Love

Awakened

Song of Solomon 3:1 - "By night on my bed I sought the one I love; I sought him, but I did  not find him. I will rise now, I said...

I have turned the Master Painter away. He bid me to come to the mountain top, to skip with him in resurrected life. I refused him and insisted he come to me. I did not want to change out of my comfort.

"Come away, my beloved, Rise up, my love, my fair one and come away. Surrender to my call, Surrender to my touch. Surrender to this new life I have for you.

I do not know how to skip upon mountain tops. I do not know what you are asking of me. So I have turned you  away.

Now by night on my bed I sought him. I said to myself, I will arise and go to the city and find him.

I will be found, My fair creation, I want you to know me, as I know you. Do not resist my touch, as I apply my brush of hope and resurrection power, I am  the only one who can take you to the mountain top, I am the one who gives you feet like Hind's feet. I will not let you slip. My plan is for your excellence. Nothing else will satisfy you. When I say, Arise, I am in the Arise!

The King's Choice

Song of Solomon 1:1 - The song of songs, which is Solomon's
The King's Choice Oil 24X30

The Canvas questions, "Why would the King choose me? He wrote over 1,000 songs, but He named this song after me, The Song of Songs. Why ?

The Master Artist responds, I chose you because I love you. My love will transform you into the most beautiful master piece in my gallery of art. Trust me. Open your heart to me. Allow me to be your Master Painter.

"Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth, For our love is better than wine. Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, Your name is ointment poured forth; Therefore the virgins love you. Lead me away."
Song of Solomon 1:2-4

In My mind's eye I see you as beautiful. Right now you are an abstract to yourself. I will begin to draw lines of my love, as I see you in my mind. One day, you will see what I see.

Right now you want to fall in love with love. You want your flesh satisfied. My name has been handed to you through your fathers and tradition, one day you will understand My name poured forth like ointment. I can not satisfy your flesh, or it will cause your sprit to diminish. I must bring to you the things that will cause My spirit to grow upon the canvas. I am and must always be the Painter and you must be the canvas and allow Me the privilege of showing youmy Love.

Monique -The Victory Song

.
The Victory Song (16X20 Oil)
Song of Solomon 6:10 Who is she who looks forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, awesome as an army with banners?"

"You are beautiful as Tirzah, Lovely as Jerusalem, awesome as an army of banners!" The Master responded to the Canvas SOS 6:4 You have proven you are full of victory, like an army which marches home with their banners high.  You have stolen my heart, my love.

The daughters presented the question."Who is she who has no darkness in her. Who is fair as the moon, who witness the light of Christ, and is clear as the sun, in fullness of heaven's light.

"I do not see what you see," the Canvas questioned. Come to me and let me know why you have made me different and yet you continue to tell me, "I must be different in order to others to see your grace and your wisdom."

All about Grace

All About Grace (24X30 Oil)
Song of Solomon 7:6, 7, 8  "How fair and how pleasant you are, O love, with your delights! This stature of yours is like a palm tree, and your breasts like its clusters. I said, "I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of its brances."

The Master Painter heard the cry of the heart, I will always come to a contrite spirit and a broken heart. I know your DNA, I know my design on you, I haver waited for you to surrender. Trust me to finish you. I know you wonder, how long?

Yes, my Lord, how long will it be until I will be finished. Must I always be on the drawing table, must I always be in the dark, when will my witness be pure?

I liken you to a palm tree. A palm tree grows staight in adversity, the heavier the burden, the straighter and stronger the palm tree grows. You are growing beautiful, strong and upright, as I apply each stroke upon your surface, the clearer the image is reflected on you.

Ramona's Dilemma

Song of Solomon 6:13 "Return, return, O Shulamite; Return, return  that we may look upon you."

Ramona's Dilemma (Oil 24X30)
"What would you see in the Shulamite - As it were, the dance of the double camp?

The daughters of Jerusalem  saw her countenance fall. She had the love of the King on her face, now it was her smug love that covered her face. They called to her, return, return, repent, repent!

I don't know how to return to that state of grace. Will I ever feel like the way I felt when I first came to him. I had no expectations, I knew I had nothing within me that was desirable. And He chose me anyway.

I am no longer dancing as one with my love. We are like the dance of the double camp. I will not let the Master Painter go until we become one again. The music has changed in my heart. I have lost the feeling I had before..

"You must learn to dance the heavenly dance. I must lead, you must follow. As Jacob strived with me all night until morning, refusing to let me go until I blessed him, the same must the canvas do.

You must learn  - this spirit of mine has come into you, my canvas, it is not a feeling, it is the substance of my love and you must learn to receive it in faith.

Will you forgive me? What have I done?

Penelope - Engulfed

Engulfed - Penelope (Oil 24X30)

Song of Solomon 6:11 "I went down to the garden of nuts, to see the verdure of the valley, to see whether the vine had budded and the pomegranates had bloomed. Before I was even aware, My soul has made me as the chariots of my noble people."

"When I came out of the wilderness, pillars of smoke encompassed me. I remember the ride in the King's chariot. Others wondered why I was asked to ride in the King's chariot. They wondered why I belonged. After I told them it was because the King chose me in love, they still questioned.

I was overcome by the pillars of smoke, the Holy Spirit which took me over in ecstasy. I began looking inside of my garden for the fruit and the nuts. In my importance, I saw myself as the chariot of my noble people.

The Master Painter caressed the soul of the canvas. He wrapped his heart around her as He painted the ethereal clouds about her head. He knew her spirit must be tested as to spiritual purity. His Spirit was strong on  the canvas as he intently painted her eyes to match heaven's color, Her face lifted to Him in surrendered.

"How beautiful you are my love, my spouse."

The Canvas felt engulfed in heavenly passion. Before she was even aware, she had fallen into her own importance. She felt she was the answer for others who were destitute in spirit. Other canvases did not have the same passion on them. She must be special.

The daughters cried to her,
"Return, return, O Shulamite;
Return, return, that we may look upon you." Song of Solomon 6:13
Repent they yelled to her. We want you to be like you once were, we want to look upon your face, so we can see the love of the King.

A Different Frame of Mind

Song of Solomon 3:"6 "Who is this coming out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke riding on the King's chariot?"

A Different Frame of Mind (24X30 Oil)

"You must change your mind," the Master Artist insisted. "You want to have things that are not meant for you. You willl only be complete in the way I have you in my  mind. You think you want to be different, you want your life idfferent, l know how you are made and anything outside of that design, will not satisfy you."

"How can I trust you, my beloved? I know I am at your mercy, you hold the brush, I am only the canvas."

"You are more than just the canvas, I have written my love upon your soul. I have laid down my life for you. I have chosen you to ride on my chariot and I have put Life in you, My life." You are coming out of the wilderness. The wilderness represents testing and you have been assayed and have been proven. Just as my Son went to the wilderness for forty days and came out with power. You have come out with power from the wilderness, you have pillars of smoke rises from you"

"Why didn't you makeme to belong in the chariot, the people wag their tongues, and wonder why a little Shulamite has stolen the heart of the King and sits upon His chariot. I don't belong there. I belong in the vineyard."

"When will you trust me? I know what I am doing. It's true, you don't belong in that new Life, that place in my chariot, but I have written my love upon your heart, you belong to me, therefore you belong in my chariot."

Claire's Coming Out

Song of Solomon 2:4,5 - "He brought me to the banqueting house and his banner over me was love. Sustain me with cakes of raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am lovesick."

Claire's Coming Out (Oil 24X30)

The canvas submitted to the enjoyment of being the only one in the Master Painter's eyes. "I am lovesick for the Master's touch. He has brought me to the banqueting tabvle and has invited me to be the guest of honor. I am in love with this new life of pleasure."

The Master Creator responded, " You are more excited to be in the presence of pleasurey than in My presence. You must learn to want me more than pleasure. I have placed my banner of love over you."

"I do not know how to love or be loved, I only feel the way I can feel.My stomach is tied in knots with the feelings of desire and it  is consuming me. Isn't my love strong enough? She asked.

"For now, but I desire to have pure love from your heart. You must be transformed by my love. As you learn of me and trust in me, you will see what I desire."

"Isn't being with you, enough? Your life is too hard. You ask more than I can give you or more than I have. I don't know how to respond in pureness."

"I ask nothing of you, but only what I have worked into you. I will not awaken your love until it pleases. Enjoy your fill tonight. There is always tomorrow."

"When tomorrow comes, will I be different? Will I regret my evening of desire?"

"No, because my love is pure towards you and the only things that satisfies. You will not feel used or thrown away. You will only want more because I am wooing you for eternity. I have desired to live with you as my bride throughout the ages. You will sit upon my throne and rule with me one day.""

Laura in Naked Silence

Song of Solomon 5: 6,7 " I opened for my beloved, But my beloved had turned away and was gone.
My heart went out to him when he spoke. I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. The watchmen, who went abut the city found me. They struck me, they wounded me; The keepers of the walls took my veil away from me."

Laura in Naked Silence 24X30 Oil

The Canvas responded. "I have turned Him away, the one I love. He came to me as the Man of Sorrow. I had taken off my robe and had washed myself with soap of self-righteousness which will never clean tmy soul. When He came to Me, I felt the myrrh which dropped from his hands on the handles of the lock. Great drops of blood dripped from his head, I did not want to touch death, especially the death of the cross. So I turned Him away."

The Crucified Artist, who created all things, and gave His life for the soul of His workmanship, turned away from His canvas until another day.

She fell into naked silence, as the watchmen found her and struck her and took off her veil. She knew only the Master Artist could satisfy the longing of her soul. She lifted her head to heaven and felt the shame of her betrayal for her Creator.of New Life..

"I have gone down to my garden, to the beds of spices, my spouse, my fair one, and I will wait for you there until you discovers Me within your own soul"

The Master Artist and His creation have become one. "I must wait unti thel dawn falls upon your heart and then and only then, my revealing and existence will be real to you. You must learn that I exist within you You are made in my image. Your identity must be sought in your Master's  touch..

Ciera's Prom Night (24X30)

Song of Solomon 2:1,2 "I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. Like a lily among thorns, So is my love among the daughter.

Ciera's Prom Night (Oil 24X30)
The Artist takes his brush and dips it into Magenta Rose and He paints innocence on her soul. You are the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. I look at you, my sister, my love and I see my Son. I am preparing you for my Son. He must go to the valley of death, and so must you.

I can not hold back pain from you, it is the only way to the cross. It is the only way you will learn about yourself and come to eternal life.

The canvas responded, Must I lose my innocence? Must I lose my youth? Must I grow up too fast? Can I not stay here for eternity?

The Artist wept.

Angelina Del Ora

Angelina Del Ora 24 X30 Oil
Song of Solomon 4: 1-3 "Behold, you are fair, my love! Behold, you are fair! You have dove's eyes behind your veil, Your hair is like a flock of goats, going down from Mount Gilead...Your lips are like a strand of scarlet, and your mouth is lovely. Your temples behind your veil, are like a piece of pomegranate."

The Master Artist writes upon His canvas:

"Do not let your beauty be that outward adorning of arranging the hair, of wearing gold or putting on fine apparel; 1  Peter 3:3

My Lord, I do not know how to be any other way than the way I am. All I know is what I have been taught. Plaiting my hair with gold, widen my eyes with black, and calling out for satisfaction. That is the way to please men, thus please myself.

"No, No, No my daughter, my friend, Adorn the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of Me.  I am not wooed as other men, I am wooed by your heart. I must color your heart with red. It is my blood which was spilled at the foot of the cross. It was for you."

"Behold, you are fair, I look at your heart. I look for that quiet spirit in your heart. I wish to come to you and find a resting place. I choose the heart of my people to rest in. You are no exception. You have used your beauty to seduce others, now you must die to the wantonness of others. You must learn my ways."

Come, my Lord, speak to my inner person and change me. I yield to your touch, My Master Painter. I wait for your brush filled with gold to come upon my faith, that I might be pleasing to you. How can I be completed without you. I find my completeness in you, only. You are my expectation. You are my hope.

"My Angel of gold. You no longer belong to the world, they have used you and seduced you and all the time you thought you were seducing them.I love you with an everlasting love.  My love will change you and teach you of another way.  Be patient, "Do not stir up love until it pleases."

Lillian's Pearl

Lillian's Pearl (Oil 24 X30)
Song of Solomon 1:8, 9, 10, 11 "...O fairest among women...I have compared you, my love; to my filly among Pharaoh's chariots. Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, Your neck with chains of tole. We will make you ornaments of gold with studs of silver."

Why do you look upon me as one who has ornaments about my neck and gold in my ears? I am not worthy of your praise, I don't belong to those who's lives are at ease and pampered. Why have you chosen me from the rows of the vineyard. The sun has looked upon me, I am dark.

" With one stroke of my brush, you came alive to Me. Oh my love, when the sun looked upon you and you saw yourself dark, I saw yout as if the light of the sun shone upon you and pointed you  to me. I see your heart. I see you as the fairest among women. Allow Me the privilege of loving you.

"You embarrass me with your description. I blush at your words, but I want to hear more. Keep telling me until I believe it. I have never known anyone like you before.

Why do you give me all your attention? Others deserve it more.

"Because I love you. You have responded to my touch, My bride Spirit. You are betroth to me. Your government will be upon my shoulders. My care, provision and protection is my up most concern. Are you willing to come to me even in the death of the cross? This is where I will meet you, out of death, comes life."

Jennifer with the Green Eyes

Song of Solomon 1:5 "I am dark, but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, Like the tents of Kedar, Like the curtains of Solomon. Do not look up me, because I am dark, Because the sun has tanned me. My mother's sons were angry with me; They made me the keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept."

Jennifer with the Green Eyes (Oil 24X30)

Portrait in Paint! I do not know if I can trust you. How do I know that you have love for me alone? You ask me to leave what I know  and come to you. I am dark, how could you love me? My brothers accuse me of not working in their vineyard. My own vineyard is barren, I have nothing you should want.

The Master Artist's Responds, "My love, it is not what you see, it is what I see. I see you beautiful. Your beauty is my my eyes. I love you with an everlasting love. I only ask that you respond to me."

How can I respond when I know how beautiful others are. I have nothing to give you. Leave me to my vineyard, leave me to my father's house.

"I can not leave you alone. I have heard your heart cry for satisfaction. When you work in your brother's vineyard, you only wished the day to be over. I love you too much to leave you in your barren state. Allow me to paint you from my spiritual palette, I know the true color of your complexion. I see it in your eyes. You desire the water that only I can give you. Trust me, surrender to me. My love, My spouse.

Mary, Do Not Cling To Me!

5: 8 Song of Solomon, ""I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if you find my beloved, that you tell him I am lovesick!"
Mary, Do Not Cling to Me! (Oil 24 X30)

I went through the city and searched for Him until I  found the one I love.

Why do I love Him?  The One my heart runs to, the One who has captured my thoughts and my attention during the night hours, He is the One who is truly worthy of all my affections. He has pursued me in His glory and laid down His life in exchange for my life.

"I am captured by your tresses, My love", The Songresponded to me. "You parade me through the city as a captured prisoner and I gladly yield to you."

Portrait in Paint! "Mary, Do not Cling to Me. You must let go of Me. You will no longer know me in the flesh, but in the spirit. I will return to you. I am sending the Holy Spirit who will bring My love to you. You will carry me in your heart. When others ask, the Light of my love will be your answer and you will be My witness."

Come quickly, I cry. I can not live without you.

"And you won't. I am here with you, My love, My sister, My spouse."

Two Faces of Eve

Song of Solomon 2:17 "Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, Turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag upon the mountains of Bether."

Two Faces of Eve (Oil 24 X30)

Portrait in Paint! My independence is important to me. I want to be all I can be, I will gladly pay the price. I will gladly eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. I can not surrender to you, I will lose my freedom. I will gladly be beguiled for my own wants.

"Do not send me away to the Mountains of Separation, My love. I have come for you to learn how to skip on the mountain tops with me in My resurrected Life.

I want to love you, My Lord, as you have loved me. I can not help but betray you. You are still the One I love, My Lord, but I must wait behind my wall of deception..

"I will go away and wait for you. I will not awaken your love until it pleases."

Until the day breaks, when the morning light comes up behind the mountain, then I will seek you. In the night hours, I sought the one I loved, but He had left me. My independence has brought death to me. How can I run back to the one I love, who walked with me daily in the garden.

The subtle serpent has wrapped himself around me and he goes  in and out of my mind with his many colors and cunning ways. Stop the noises in my head, My Love and Lord

I am the Master Painter and I have defeated the serpent on the cross. He has entered into your painting by your will and your disobedience. You have fought against My touch. You have rejected the colors of My heart. You have wanted to paint your own life.

With only a stroke, My Word became flesh. And My flesh came in the likeness of man. I have destroyed the works of the evil one. You must turn to me, My sister, My spouse. My love is enough." I have given you free will, but you must chose me.
